Guideline about how to chose the appropriate combination of inverter systems

1.What capacity Inverter I should choose?
The capacity of Inverter depends on how many Watt (P) all your appliances consume.
So, the first step is calculate the total watt of all your home appliances.
Eg. ) Fan normally is 100 W; energy bulb is 10W, 5pcs would be 5*10W=50W (check the label on the products to confirm the exact Watt.)
If all the appliances watt add together is 1000W, then we will use the formula =》VA*0.85=W, hence 1000W/0.85=1176VA, then you will use 1.5Kva=1500va Inverter.

(XtraPower inverters available kva in Nigeria is 1.5kva/24v; 2.5kva/24v;3.5kva/48v;5kva/48v;10kva/96v; 2kva/24v-Hybrid;3kva/24v-Hybrid;5kva/48v-Hybrid. )

2.How many pcs of battery you need to buy and how many back up hours you need from the batteries?
First, according to the Inverter Voltage to choose the pcs , since most of the batteries in Nigeria is 12V,so if your inverter is 24V, then the battery’s quantity => 24V/12V=2pcs at least.

And back up hours calculation would be depend on the Watt (P) of all the batteries that are put together to divide total watt of all your home appliances.
Eg.) 2pcs*200Amps*12V batteries , according to the formula =》P=UI(W=AV)=2*200*12=4800W.If all your home appliances watt is 1000W, the back up hours would be 4800W/1000W=4.8Hours.
If your want to increase the back up hours, you need to add more batteries.

Remark: Battery Series connection is to add Voltage, Parallel Connection is to add capacity (back up hours).

(To make sure the balance of the whole system instead of wasting money and the materials , please consult XtraPower team for the gold combination.Because the charging current is depends on inverter, if batteries quantity is many, the inverter charging current might not enough to charge the batteries well, as point 3 mentioned.)

3.How the batteries can be charged by Inverters with the NEPA?
When there’s NEPA, the Xtra Power inverter can charge batteries automatic, and the charge speed will be depended on the voltage and charging current of the inverters. For example 2.5kva Inverter charging current is 30Amps, voltage is 24V, the charging speed will be calculate as formula=>P=UI(W=AV)=30A*24V=720W/Hour.
Eg.) 2pcs*200Amps*12V batteries=P=UI(W=AV)=2*200*12=4800W/30A*24V=720W/Hour=6.6Hours. To fully charge the 2 pcs 200amps 12 v batteries needs 6.6hours by 2.5kva inverter.

(XtraPower inverter charging current is :1.5kva/30Amps; 2.5kva/30Amps;3.5kva/35Amps;5kva/35Amps;10kva/40Amp.)

4.How Inverter system work with the solar panels and mppt controllers and how many panels you will need and what capacity mppt should be choose?

The quantity of solar panels is depends on the Watt of all the batteries you are using and the sunshine hours, in Nigeria sunshine hours can be up to almost 12 hours, the efficiency hours can count as 6 hours. The solar panels quantity (watt) we can use the half or 1/6 Watt of the batteries .
Eg.)2pcs*200Amps*12V batteries , according to the formula =》P=UI(W=AV)=2*200*12=4800W to fully charge by solar panel need 4800W*0.5(half)/350W(Xtra Power solar panel is 350W/pc)=6pcs per 3hours.

And the MPPT capacity (P=W) should be equal or similar with the Watt of the solar panels. 6pcs*350W=2100W, so the MPPT will chose 50Amps *48V=2400W.
